70-200 upgrade?

I have the canon 70-200 f4L and i was thinking about upgrading to the sigma 70-200 f2.8 and was wondering if that would be a good move. I know i would utilize the extra speed of the 2.8 but is that enough to be worth the extra couple hundred dollars?

Would you be intending to keep the current lens or would you be looking at selling it etc? Recovering some of the expense could influence some of the responses.

Is your heart set on the Sigma or are you willing to look at others?

just looking at something with f2.8 and i would be selling the other.

What would you be using it for? I have read it has trouble keeping up with fast moving objects. Something to consider.

70-200 f/2.8 IS should be excellent!

The Canon 70-200 series is incredible. Getting more light from a Sigma variant might be offset by softer images. I haven't used the Sigma myself, but I have never heard of a Canon-mount lens that is sharper than what you have for that focal range.

I'd save a lot longer for the Canon f/2.8 IS. It is a ridiculously incredible (and expensive) lens. Breathtaking.
