I remember that there use to be a 7200RPM option for the 15 inch Macbookpro when it was a Core duo, but what has happened to it since then, why is it only availible on the 17 inch model (its the same sized drive).

Does anyone expect it to return to the 15 inch in the future?

A 5400RPM PMR hard drive is comparable in performance to a 7200RPM LMR drive, with the added benefit of lower heat output.

I guess Apple got fed up with all the heat complaints from the last generation of MBPs.

The 7200 RPM is more of a "pro" drive for fastest access. I guess they want you to buy the 17 inch as their top of the line portable pro machine

Bookshop!
does the 7200RPM drive really add that much more heat? If it does, i might buy the 100GB drive my parents have in theirs from them, because they are always complaining about the heat.
