I'm buying a new 15" Powerbook. I'm a DJ and Photographer so I work mostly with DJ programs and Photoshop - and sometimes Illustrator, Soundtrack, Peak, Garageband, and of course iDVD and iMovie. When I'm DJ'ing in the club I usually play songs off my internal hard drive, and I play fro 8hrs straight (will there be heat issues?). Should I buy the 5400 120GB, or the 7200 100GB. What's more important? The extra 20GB or the extra rpm's?

hmm if i was you ide go for the extra RPM's you'll feel a big difference
if you need additional space go with a FW800 extenal hard drive that you can take with you

7200 rpm...although if the difference was significantly more than 20GB, I'd probably go the other way.

Will the 7200rpm run louder and hotter?

Generally, yes. Read the specifications of your current drive and attempt to match prospective drives in heat dissapation, power usage (battery life takes a hit), and noise in the audible spectrum for humans.

However, a lot of things have changed from even 3 years ago and you'll find that you won't have too much trouble with any currently manufactured 2.5 inch drive you choose.
