I have the Hauppauge HD-PVR and am using Steven Toth's excellent HDPVRCapture software to make recordings on my G4 iBook. These recordings are 720p/60fps h.264 saved as .m2ts files. These play great on the PS3, but I'm trying to find the best method of converting these to AppleTV compatible files using HandBrake. All of my tests so far have ended up kind of wiggly. The default HandBrake settings for the AppleTV produce files that are 540p, but I'd like to keep them at 720p. I think that going from 60fps to 24 (or 23.98)fps is causing the wiggliness. Any tips or ideas?

720p 60fps to AppleTV?

Frame rate conversion is a difficult thing to get right. I`m no expert but I remember seeing an article somewhere that said the best way is to first convert it to a frame rate that is divisble by both the source and destination frame rates.
eg:- say you want to convert a file from 60fps to 24fps what you would first do is convert the 60fps video to 120fps and then to 24fps because 60 and 24 both divide equally into 120.
The article gave examples of a avisynth script to do this however it was geared towards using a PC so I don`t know about Mac`s
