The company I work for is planning on doing some stuff in Second Life, and is buying me a new computer.

So, I'm looking at the stock Mac Pro with the NVIDIA 7300GT graphics card. According to their system requirements, the 7300GT should be fine.... but then, so should the 9700 mobility in my PowerBook - which doesn't do so well.

Is anyone here familiar enough with Second Life to know what kind of FPS I should expect? Maybe it would be better running it under Windows/Bootcamp?

I may ask if I can have the computer configured with the ATI X1900 XT instead, but I'm already pushing it by asking for the Mac Pro which is much more expensive than the crappy Dell Pentium-D computers the rest of my co-workers got...

i dunno about that nvidia card, but i know it runs very very well ( depending on the server ) on my radeon 9650 256MB in my G5. if there is no lag on the server it runs incredibly well.

i only play on my powerbook in a pinch.
