750 GB Seagate Drive

Same technology as the 160 GB 2.5 inch drive. It's good stuff but expensive for now. I'm sure the 750 GB drive will be expensive for its size for the first 3 months.

Thanks. That isn't too bad of a price for right now but I can't wait till these get down to about $300! I have just over 3TB of storage now and its crazy to think that would just be 4 of those drives.

I think I need one of these..... maybe..... never ever run out of room (unless I was using windows:D )

That price isn't bad compared to some of the Lacie dual disk options.

Dang you, you had me momentarily thinking/hoping this thing was actually a 2.5 inch drive!

Obviously not happening any time soon, but man would I love to stick a 750 gig 2.5" 7200 RPM drive into my PowerBook!

Let's get to 250 GB first...
 
It will register as 697 GB in your OS after accounting for the GiB/GB unit conversion. Formatting will take some more space...don't know how much.

697 seems right given those figures. Your 250 Gb drive lost 7.2% of its capacity and your 120 lost 5%. If those are the right numbers the 750 would lose approximetly 40-55 Gb... and end up at around 700. I think 696 or 697 is the exact answer.

ok call me stupid i went back into the thread thinking it was 700GB instead of 750 o_O don't ask me how i did that -_-.

Yes, at the GB range, you lose just about 7% in the GiB/GB unit conversion, as 1 GiB (or 1 GB in the hard drive industry) equals 1,073,741,824 bytes, not a billion bytes. That makes a 750 GiB drive equal to about 698.5 GB.
