Think it will ever happen? I really want an iPod mini, but I have a 4.2gb collection and I don't want to buy the 6gb and then have my collection grow to more than that relatively soon...I'd like to get something in the 8-10gb range, and since I don't have money for it now anyway I don't mind waiting to see if Apple will release a 8-10gb mini...think it will happen? Any predictions on when?

wasn't there an article very recently that said hitachi would be making 20 gb mini drives in the next couple of years?

whether or not they go in an iPod mini would remain to be seen.

why don't you just get the 20 gb iPod? unless you really want the color or are exercising, saving up for at least the 20 gig makes sense to me. that way your library can grow 5 times what it is now and you wouldn't have a worry about space.
if you're waiting for an 8-10 gig mini, you might be waiting a long while.

I can see a 10gb mini this time next year, but there is only so far that they will go as the ipod photo's wont really get bigger hard drives than 60, it isnt needed.

Of course i say that not thinking about the future, the ipods may well take video, in which case a bigger hard drive may be needed.

But i really cant see ipod mini reaching 20gig for a ways yet, some time next year perhaps.

I can't speak for Apple, but we are looking to begin producing the 8 and 10gb Microdrives in the second half of this year. The second half starts in July.

Project into that what you will.

i could see it happening, but with the iPod mini's being updated recently, i dont think any major changes are going to come for at least a half a year if not longer, but i could see it happening, getting rid of the 4gb, moving the 6gb to the $199 price point and putting a 10gb at the 250? possibly

I highly doubt that Apple will be changing the mini this year, or even well into next year. I myself loath the current iPod design and am waiting until Apple makes either a new design for the iPod or a mini with a 15 gig plus HD.
