8 Core 3.0ghz vs 12 core 2.4ghz for Logic

I'll keep this simple and hope someone can help.

I'm purchasing a Mac Pro this year.
I doubt I'll be able to afford the new model that come out and I know the pricing structure that companies offer when upgrading the old towers so don't need help there.

What I'd love to know is..
If it were you, would you buy the either the following for writing music in Logic Pro.
I'll be using many VI instruments.

8 Core 3.0ghz
12 core 2.4ghz

These would be same price hence my trepidation since it's the old cores vs processor question.


Everything else, Ram e.t.c would be the same. It's the processor I want to know about.

Any advice, or experiences much appreciated.

If you are in the market for one, you should have a good idea of what you are getting into. My personal preference would be for faster single-core speed. Beyond that, I'm not taking the bait.

(If serious, a less wrath-of-trash-can title, etc., would help. This place is badly-off enough already without another "but it's 4 years old, obsolete and overpriced!" troll-worthy thread.)

Just buy it man....nothing else to say.

I'd go with the faster machine.

More cores do help. But if we're already talking 8 cores, then you'll benefit from the faster speed more than if you had more cores at a lower speed.

Agreed, I'm not interested in the 2017 models that are pure speculation.
I'm also not interesting to hear about the older Mac Pro's

Just these two models from the 2013 range.
