Ordered 8 core nMP a week or so after it went live. Says it ships in Feb. Anyone received theirs yet? Any ideas on time frame?

Was the estimated timeframe of 6 weeks after order for shipping or delivery?

I'm still desperately hoping for apple to figure out their issues they have with my paypal payment..

I'm at 6 weeks now and still have processing items. I hope that theory is correct though and my status changes in the next couple of days :D

But in all honesty, I ordered on the day of launch and loads got shipped in Jan so that theory can't be true.

I ordered my 8-core with 1 TB SSD, 64 GB RAM, and D700's mid-morning on 12/19/13. I just got a "Shipped" notice that says I should receive it tomorrow.

It's crazy that they're still processing orders from the 19th... I really wonder if it will go faster after the first bunch is through!

I received my Mac Pro with the same configuration last Friday. I also ordered on 12/19/13. I'm from Germany.

12 Core

Ordered 12 core on Dec 19th - in the USA

Configuration
2.7GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon E5
16GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC - 4X4GB

Still processing! Not sure what is holding it up!

Did you get a Jan delivery date on that order? If so, I would chase them up or check that your balance wasn't rejected due to the delay. If your in the Feb batch then your like many of us.

First, they aren't on the first batch. They were making Mac Pros before they launched. They have been making them since launch. Not sure how more than a month (probably past two months at this point) is just one "batch".

Second, the time estimates changed on the 19th. Very early 19th orders generally got different targets than those relatively late in the day (relative to the initial wave of orders). 3rd party retailers are pulling out of the same production lines as those individuals ordering from Apple on the 19th . Folks who "buy" in double digit quantities of Mac Pros at a time (and thousands of other Macs ) extremely likely have a higher priority order than a one-off Mac Pro.

Most likely Apple got the component ordering ratios somewhat wrong. It is a new product and how many folks would want a D700 versus D300 were probably were not based on quantitative data. The large slide in dates is more probably based on when they thought their suppliers could adjust to the actual real demand data they acquired on that first day.

Apple created a large launch window demand bubble by both invoke Osbrone effect for more than 12 months and then stop selling the Mac Pro worldwide for about two months ( technically less but channel suppilers had to be cutting back on orders as the year ended. There was no other "new in 2013" options than than the next 2-3 months by September 30th ).

By March the launch bubble will be gone. (would have rolled out to even low countries by that point). So yes, supply will more likely meet demand at that point.

Likewise after 1-2 of orders after the initial launch Apple should have much better data to base what "normal" Mac Pro users are going to order. The 'Day one' early adapters are not particularly good folks to base long term demand projections on. Tends to be a much higher ratio of folks who buy on "tech spec porn" than on grounded workstation workload needs. So parts coming in from suppliers by April-May so also be a much better match to demand.

Nope, was Feb from day 1, I ordered in the afternoon of Dec 19th. I just think they didn't buy enough high end parts. I almost think they look at the MacPro as a proof of concept machine. Sort of a PR stunt.

I worry that Apple just doesn't get it (not that Microsoft does either) - they are interested in executive/yuppie toys - the people that run the corps now aren't really computer enthusiasts. Tim Cook is not a computer guy. Jobs at least liked the tech.

All these people (running the show) know is web, email and spreadsheets, and they can't even get mail to work right in Mavericks... and I need real heavy processing power to do my job. I don't need an iToy (even though I own a few for fun).

Crossing fingers the 12 core kicks butt!

Ordered my 12 core today... so I should have it sometime in August, right?

Okay, maybe I'm being a little rude. :) It says March... so I'm assuming LATE March for sure.

Yeah, I can see what you mean. I think Apple management "think" different to most companies because of their success with other products, as in "We must lead innovation". The New Mac Pro is a bold risk and in creating it have certainly lost some market to the demanding 2xCPU users out there that wish to upgrade.

Personally I think a good move now is to refresh the Old Mac Pro too and that way they would fill the gap created by the 2xGPU machine. The problem with that is they would end up competing with themselves so would need to cripple it some way to keep the machines dedicated to their targeted market.

I today spoke with the hotline regarding my 8 core order from january 3rd. Estimated delivery date is february 28th!!! :( I guess the 6 week windows just stretched itself to an 8 week window..

First she said March 7th!!!!

And then she corrected herself and said that it went down to feb 28th.

I'm still afraid they won't make it though, cause these support people at apple are just to S T U P I D to understand the issue with my case. I chose paypal as a payment method, and now paypal closed the case after 30 days during which apple didnt charge my account. I just want to change my payment method to CC now, but they won't let me. Instead they keep saying... just wait and see what will happen, we will find a solution then...

But here on the forum I read from others, who had a similar issue, that in the end they had to place a new order and are now back to the end of the line... I just pray that everything goes well...
