i have the 8+ and I’m considering going to the Xr/Xs, mostly because there’s there’s problems with lagging messaging and what I’m detecting is a possible problem with the cameras. Aren’t the 8+ cameras equivalent to the Xs? My daughter has the Xr and loves her phone over the 8.i guess I’m looking for a reason not to upgrade... monthly cost is about the same. I do use the fingerprint to unlock my phone quite a bit but my daughter says it works fine for her.

Cost aside, XS/Xr camera is a whole next level to the 8/X. Bigger sensor! I believe that XS/Xr is the first time Apple increased sensor size since iPhone 5s in 2013...jumping from 1/3.0" (5s to 8/X) to 1/2.55" (XS/Xr) in the main lens.

So, significantly bigger sensor in XS/Xr.

Add in Smart HDR and you have a whole new level of camera prowess...thus awarded as #1 camera system at this time by DPReview...and of course, it did very well with DxO.

Don't believe me? See video below...I would watch the whole video...but if you want to jump, go to 5:24 mark to see differences in picture quality/detail/etc..

Your 8+ is still very good. There is absolutely no reason to upgrade if it’s working properly. Just wait for the 11

Keep the 8+. Everything else is just throwing money down the drain for next to no reason. All of the new phones still run iOS--just what you're seeing on your 8+. And none of them runs it noticeably better than your 8+.

If you want to spend some money, take yourself and your phone down to the nearest Apple store and have them replace your battery while you can still do it for $29, no questions asked. Next year, it'll be $49, with questions asked.

Next year the whole market will be crowing about 5G, which none of the current phones has. Two years from now, every phone will be 5G, and you'll want your iPhone to have it. Your 8+ with new battery will last that long.
