I just noticed my battery hit 80%. My AppleCare+ expires on 1/16/22. And I don't have another day off until 1/14/22.

What are the chances of Apple taking care of this next week? I live a couple of hours from an Apple store so I don't want to make the drive and be turned away because it's not BELOW 80%.

I just hate to miss out on the battery replacement so close to the end.
 
They will wait until it's under 80%, best bet is to call or chat with them and be persistent that you have a significant battery drain in daily usage.
 
I'll get on the chat with them and see what they say.

I was wanting to buy a new MBP but it just hurts to spend that money. I guess this could be a way to delay until the next ones come out.

You should be able to extend your AppleCare+ on a month-to-month basis:

But they will run diagnostics I think to renew? It would be interesting to see if they will renew it on a phone @ 80%
I hope they won't do diagnostics, that is a very cheap move. Not allowing a repair and not allowing warranty.

Pretty sure they won’t run diagnostics if you extend your plan within 30 days of plan expiration.

I was able to extend my iPad Air 3 without running diagnostics. But why would they deny extension of warranty because of low battery health? That doesn't make any sense. The only time warranty is denied is for pre-existing damage or if the device was tampered with. Just because the battery is on its way out is not justification for denial.

Because they would have to replace the battery?

I haven't renewed an applecare plan yet. But when I signed up, a diagnostic was run. That is where I was coming from.
 
They can't talk out of both sides of their mouth at the same same.

They can't say your battery is not faulty so they won't replace it, and then turn around and say they won't extend your AppleCare+ because your battery is faulty.

Although I know some car dealers that have said very similar things. Say they won't replace at item under warranty because it is not faulty, then turn around and give a reduced trade-in value because that same item is faulty. But that's car dealers for you, living in some alternate universe with different laws of logic.

Just because the battery would be eligible for replacement doesn't mean the user is going go through with it. I have an iPhone SE at 77% health that I haven't bothered with replacing yet. I understand what you are saying, but they cannot deny coverage (after having 2 years of coverage) because the battery is replacement eligible. Warranty denial requires misuse/damage.
 
What model iPhone? How old? Is it noticeably loosing power faster, or is this simply a worry because of the 80% life?

Battery replacement for iPhones is an inexpensive thing to do in any event, and if your iPhone is below 80% then they can do it at the Apple store with an appointment, not a big deal.

iPhone 11 Pro. It’ll be 2 years on 1/16/22.

If I was at 85% I really wouldn’t care. But battery replacement was one of the services under AppleCare+ and I don’t want to miss out on it by a couple of days.
 
You'll be fine. The earlier suggestion to contact Apple via chat is a good one, if you haven't already done that. And they can do a battery check / diagnostic over the phone while you are talking to them.

Beyond that, it's very possible that when you go to the Apple Store and talk to them directly, they'll take care of the battery even if it is right at 80%. I've had several batteries replaced for older iPhones, at the Apple Store, and they handle it very well. You should also anticipate that they might not have the correct battery when you first go in, and they may need to order it and do the replacement when the battery arrives.

I'm in a similar situation, a couple of hours drive from closest Apple store.

I can deal with going back. I’m on vacation starting next Friday so a couple of small day trips don’t sound too bad.
 
I went through the Support app and they said my battery is fine until it gets below 80%.

I’ll try to switch to a month to month AppleCare plan tomorrow. Then I’ll try chat.
