Got a M4 MBP 3 months ago, have turned on optimized charge (80%). but it's always been at 100% charged. I swap the MPB between 2 outlets everyday (10 sec at most), does that influence why it doesn't stay at 80%?

It could be, most people would just use something like AlDente if this was a concern to them, even the free version will allow you to hold the battery at a certain charge level

OP: just in case there's some confusion, the goal is NOT to keep it at 80% at all times but to stop charging it up from a lower percentage after much use to 80%. Your line about "every day" makes me wonder if you are just plugging it in at every opportunity and perhaps thinking you want to try to keep it at 80% at all times. The idea is to use it unplugged down towards maybe 10% and then plug it back in so it recharges to 80%.

I Just switch between 2 poweroutlets with max 10s. So thought thought the OS would recognize that so I don't have to be fulll charge all the time but dunno... Guess it won't matter in the end anyhow.

Yes, I wouldn't do that. Once you disconnect, I suggest using it disconnected until he battery is down toward 10%, then plug it back in again. It used to be a bad thing to do quickie charges. Maybe that's not the case anymore (I'm not so sure). But based on how it think it all works, work it down towards 10% and then charge it back up vs. keep it on 1 of 2 chargers at all times.

I have my laptop for about a month and the battery health is already 98%, I just use my laptop, TBH 80% and 100% won't make huge difference to battery health. The benefits are only marginal. Overheating, overcharging, deep draining and current overdrawing (which will happen if you're running heavy duty task on battery at <40%) are the true killer to Lithium ion battery. Batteries are disposables. They're not designed to last eternality. No matter what you do or what you not do, it WILL degrade. For modern laptops it's inevitable that a large percentage will have battery replaced at least once before it goes obsolete.
