what is the limitation in this instance?? the memory bus would be the limitations wouldnt it? i dont understand why intel didnt speed it up.. theyre still behind![]()
The limitation is in the 965 (945 macbook) chipset which just doesn't run the memory at 800mhz. Probably because there is little advantage in speed, more heat and very poor memory timings.
At the moment laptop memory speed isn't really a limiting factor for anything. Its fast enough for turbocache/whatever ati & intel call it (acting as video ram) as its only ever used in low end videocards which don't need a lot of memory bandwidth (i.e. 7400, 8400, intel integrated etc).
They are 965s.so what about the MBP SR laptops?? can they support 800mhz? i was under the impression that they couldnot
