I installed Vista through Boot Camp on a new Santa Rosa MBP. Installation was smooth and everything seemed to work fine except for the graphics card, which as of now has not been detected. Under 'Display Settings', the monitor is listed as: "(Default Monitor) on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter."

Here is the relevant Dxdiag output:

It's things like this that make this forum so great. Nice work:)

Thanks. The question is whether that driver is compatible. As it is for the desktop 8000 series. Plus, though I am not certain, I think GPU's for Intel Macs still use specially coded ROM's that may not be recognized in Vista without a driver specifically from Apple.

I ran the Nvidia driver for 32bit Vista, while running 32bit Vista. As soon as the Nvidia installation screen came up it claimed that it could not detect that the machine was in fact 32bit Vista. I'm going to install Windows XP and see if I have better luck.

i hope i don't have this issue..i'm installing vista now. btw..i hear people overclocked their gpus and such so they must have used different drivers than the apple ones, so i'm sure there's some way to get the normal nvidia drivers working.

I can confirm, I have a new Santa Rosa MBP and am getting the same issue.

wow, this is kinda disturbing, cause vista is one of the main things I'm gonna be doing with my mb...

But that would require waiting! How we going to put the petal to the metal without running some windowz fps benchmarks. ;)

calm down...the computers just came out today! I'm sure there will be a fix soon. Let the computer be our more then a few hours before you get worried!

does anyone know how to fix the lack of ethernet drivers? Unfortunately, I can't use vista on my new mbp b\c I don't have wireless in my house and the ethernet drivers don't work.

Can any of you people running Windows right now check how underclocked the 8600M GT's clockspeeds are? I think you have to enable coolbits or download some small overclocking program.

You can also check by installing 3DMark05 or 06.
