So...

It's looking like I have a chance to get an MBA Ultimate 11" model (my model of choice) for about $875, which ends up being only about $700 out of pocket for me (given other factors). Is this a stupid move given the new models releasing in about a month? Or is this just too good to pass up?

I won't be doing anything too intense besides gaming, and even then its mostly CS:S. It will be mostly websurfing, email, MS Office, etc.

Thanks!

I'd say it depends on how much you would want the new features. Thunderbolt is a given, and it'll probably get an i3 or i5 processor. It may get a RAM boost as well, but that's not for sure. It is almost certain to keep the current design, as it was just redesigned last year.

If you can live without those features then I'd say go for it. However, if you would like to have the latest and greatest that Apple has to offer for the Air, then you should probably wait a few weeks.

Oh come on, for $700 you can buy it now and if you find refreshed MBA so great that you can't live without them, you can sell ultimate 11" and buy refreshed MBA. God damn I want those prices too :)

Nvidia 320M is more suited for gaming than Intel HD 3000. CS isn't that intensive, so you won't have problems running on either of those. Processor wise, Intel Core i5 is a lot better than Core 2 Duo. My pick would be the new one.

it really depends on the person. For me, i can't stand having old technology when you know there's a new one just around the corner.

I love my current MBA 11" base with 4gb memory, have been using it every day for the last 6 months. Its fast enough for most occasions, but i find it lagging a bit when i have multiple tabs opened in chrome and watching a 1080p video on youtube.

Im selling it at a $200 loss and gonna get the new one the first day it hits the market.

IMHO, it's not worth it. Especially considering the new base SB processors will outperform the current Ultimate's 1.6 C2D. Hopefully they come standard with 4 gb ram too, which im guessing they will. Im ok with a 64gb ssd too so its looking like the base air if it comes with 4gb ram will be best for me.

yep well in my country you'r lucky to get 11" MBA for $1100, that is considered to be good deal, so... :) Few guyz trying to sell their MBA 13" with GF 9400 for over $1300. Unthinkable in USA, right? Well, here it isn't that big problem.

especially for gaming, the current ultimate MBA is better than the next 1.

Sadly, I don't, but anything send from USA to here is controled and if authorities finds out that it cost more than 30 euro I belive than they'll add 20% to the price that they themselves will determine... I have thought about it over and over yet I don't know any way to "smuggle" cheap macbook to here without someone flying in person with it... Maybe if I visit USA some day :)

You can't just have a random invoice attached to it? i just shipped a friend in antigua a Blackberry torch. I wrote him out a invoice from my cell phone store for $100. They didn't give him a hard time about the invoice or anything.
