I am hoping you are right. Kind of doesn't make sense to buy one right now.
Apple had the opportunity to refresh the iMac with the Mac mini M2 last Jan 2023 or last month during its 25th anniversary.
Ports won't change, screen won't change, colors won't change.
You just want a slightly faster chip? It's not like the days we wait on the 2018 Mac mini to arrive, with TB3, upgradable RAM, etc.

Could be M2 yields, but they did update the Mac mini. I have the feeling the iMac next model could get a larger screen, e.g. 26”.
For me - it is the opportunity to upgrade internal SSD 1 or 2 TB, maybe upgrade RAM to 24" and to make it a 5-7 year device
It was - I just didn't make that decision as I wasn't really convinced if the computer was a permanent option for me. The form factor and power works perfectly for my use case (basically Citrix log-in at home and general office use).
Tim Apple is really good at supply chain - he don't make too many for what he expects to sell.
yes, Apple has historically aimed for 4-6 weeks of inventory in the channel at any given time.
That's $1k over an equivalent iMac. The display panel part itself is about $400?
