Hi
I am just trying to clean some of my Mac out. I noticed that my user folder (in /Users) uses 155GB. So I am trying to cut down on this. I cleared my user out a lot, so that all together, my Documents, Desktop, Movies, Music and Pictures and Downloads all come to less than 40GB, however my /Users is still 130GB.

So, I did some research and found how to get to the Library folder (in /Users/Sam/). This was 92GB! And it contains copies of my Desktop, Movies, Music, Pictures Downloads ...etc. Should these be here? Are the folders I see in /Users/Sam just clever Alias' to the ones in Library that don't show the Alias arrow? Or can I delete these?

Also, what else will be taking up the space in this folder? It can't all be these folders. Any specific folder I should look in, or any free cleanup programs that do the Library folder?

Thanks in advanced,

Sam

Normally those folders are not in the Library folder, thus they seem to have to be copied into the Library folder somehow, thus are safe to delete.

To find out, where you storage capacity is being used, you can use the following free applications:
Maybe try a combination of several, if you still can't find the "missing" capacity.

Hi
Thanks for getting back to me. So, from those programs and making finder show all folder sizes, I have got these:
[see attached image]
Does anybody know about this Application Support folder? The biggest folder in that one is MobileSync. Something to do with syncing my iDevices?

Application support is usually big. It does what the title suggests, provides support files for applications you use. MobileSync, or the Backup folder in it is a backup of your iPhone and or iPad. You can delete old backups while the device is connected, choose Preferences in iTunes, and Choose Device, I think. It will list your backups, and you can delete the old ones.
