Hey there,

So I recently posted a thread explaining how modded skyrim, enabling the game to use 4GB of ram, I also changed in the SkyrimPrefs.ini - iPresentInterval=0, bMouseAcceleration=0.

My drivers are updated, CPU is running on high performance. But I'm running 35+fps and 17-30 in dungeons/ indoors.

I'm Running:

Windows 7
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.80GHz
Ram: 4GB
VD Card: 9600m GT

I'm aware that the 9600m GT is little out of date so I was thinking of pushing the limits a little more by overclock just abit. I'm a bit new to overclocking and was wondering what you guys thought about me doing this. Has anyone experience with this at all, if so would you know a good general setting for overlocking without destroying the card and also able me to play hours of the game? any advise would be great thanks.

If thats a macbook pro then probably not a good idea to overclock, heat could become an issue although if you absolutely must then try Rivatuner.
Also change iPresentInterval=X back to 1, it's not just vsync it controls but physics and game timings and you are in for a lot of issues by disabling it.

Can you be more specific with turning x back to 1?

I've been playing for a number a hours and haven't seen a big difference... particularly in game physics or timing (it could just be me though).

Also I've overclocked just a tad, after reading what others have done with overclocking I did a bit below what seem to be the general average of people using a 9600m GT.

Average = 690/1070/1620
Me = 600/900/1500
Default = 500/792/ 1250

Also used 'lubbos' to have control over the fans setting them at max and seen a DRASTIC difference in FPS 40+ even indoors. But just recently done the OC so we'll see what happens but dam does it look good also I went from low to med setting... Hopefully things work out but any other advise will def. be considered. Thanks!

Just keep your eye on temps, if things dont get too hot then all is good, cranking up the fan speeds is a very good move.
As for iPresentInterval, it doesnt just control vsync but also how in game physics and timed events work, disabling it can lead to flashing and corrupt textures as well as physics going absolutely nuts.

Thank you for your insight, come to think of it I did get hit by a troll and sent 30ft up in the air and died then again not sure if that was suppose to happen.

Question: Do you know a good software that reads ur temperature? Also what should the temperature be around before things go wrong?

Thanks again

Try GPU-Z, that should give you accurate temperature readings.
As for the 30ft knock, was that a giant? it tends to happen with them, not sure if its a bug or a feature.

So I went and changed it back to 1 and I started notice certain weird things happening that wasn't happening(or I haven't noticed) when it was Zero, like bug sounds in a room that use to have a bug before I killed it, a beggar in town asking for money but when I look around no ones there, maybe another thing here and there but i started noticing it once I changed the ipresentinterval back to 1. LOL my character has gone Schitzo!

I googled it Ipresent interval 1 and 0 but haven't seen any threads complaining about the change... Not really sure what's going on but I'll play some more and see if anything else happens.

Heat is the problem when GPU is overlocked. And I think overlocking CPU is more effective to boost the FPS.

overclock to fix stupid update?

You can if you use nvidia system tools. For example I overclocked mine to stable 3.06ghz from 2.66ghz.

Hey gurus,

Seems like an update of Snow Leopard (10.6.8) designed to stabilize the graphics performance and prevent crashes (that I never had) might have throttled down the 9600M GT and screwed up my external display setup (splitter + two 1920x1080 monitors). Apple support / Genius bar can't/won't do anything about it.

Lots of good vibes and many thanks in advance for any hint/info/link! :D
