I'm looking for an 24' iMac like other people do, and I'm definitely waiting for the MWSF for extra couple of days too. However, my school is offering the last version 20' model of iMac(you know, 2.16ghz CPU, 1g ram, 250HD) for $999.

And I just wonder if
1. there'll be no iMac released in MWSF. And,
2. the new iMac will cost more then $1799 (reasonable based on price increase of new Mac pro) which I prob won't afford.

Is it worth buying the $999 one?

Despite the standard model being slightly more expensive, the price actually dropped for the Mac Pro..

I doubt we will see an iMac price increase. I would not pay $999 for a 2.16 iMac... you can pick up a 2.0 Aluminum for $100 more.

It depends, what do you plan on using your iMac for? I think that $999 is a great deal on the white iMac, and many people prefer the matte screen vs. the glossy screen of the new Alu iMac. On the other hand, the new iMac is absolutely gorgeous and the new keyboard is definitely a positive. Buy the white iMac, max out the RAM, and you'll have a machine that will last you for years.

you can always buy the new keyboard

You can easily pick up a white keyboard and mouse from craigslist for under $20 from any mac users upgrading keyboards.
