9C90--Lines notwithstanding, a garbage screen

Everybody always says how much better the Air's screens are than any other Apple portable.

Much brighter, better color, etc.

I have a 9C85 (Chin-Mei) Late 08 MBP screen and a 9C90 Rev. B Air screen.

The MBP is stunningly gorgeous out of the box, and needed no calibration whatsoever, and is damn near on par with the 24 inch ACD, though the ACD edges it out in wow factor by just a tad.

The Air on the other hand, though bright, really has a garbage screen. After sifting through profile after profile after profile I finally found one that looks great--until I put it next to the MBP, still with it's factory calibration, and just how garbage these Air screens are becomes oh so apparent. Horribly yellow, and not nearly as contrasty.

Terrible, Apple. Terrible.

I took pics but it was too difficult to tell the difference with camera shots, but anyone who's owned both can probably attest that the Air's screen really is garbage, not even accounting for lines.

people thoughts that after soo many outrage at the old MB.13" screen , Apple would have installed in the new MBpro13" the soncaled better screen from MBAir..but it seems that to lower the price on the MBair they may have done it the other way around and install the bad one in ALL 13.3 ...
Screens , glare and resolutions ( apart for the beautifull matte 17" 1920.1200 !) are Apple worst trade off at the moment.

If it's still horribly yellow you didn't calibrate it properly. I'm not saying MBP's screen isn't better (I haven't use one of those), but if you can't get the white point right, you shouldn't expect it to look good.

Interestingly there wasn't any 'how to fix the yellowness', 'yellow drives me nuts' thread, as far as I know, but it's just as bad or even worse than the lines problem imo, except unlike others who reported rev B/C having yellowish display, my rev A was yellowish (and calibration doesn't fix much either) and my rev C was much whiter and had better contrast to the point I was excited how MBA display can be this vivid...

Seriously... MBA display is totally about luck. rev D better have a new stock of displays that are fair on average...

If it's still horribly yellow you didn't calibrate it properly.

True that calibration helps, but a lot of the rev:B (and so, I suppose, rev:C) displays are beyond salvation and still can't compare favorably to even a uMB screen.

My old rev:A screen was out of this world, but my rev:B (9C90) had lines, yellowing, and some of the worst backlighting I've ever seen. It was garbage. The fact that Apple didn't use different displays in the rev:C is the sole reason I passed on this revision.

It's (not so) funny, I was at Best Buy the other day, and even the netbook screens I saw looked at least as good as the MBA on display. And all the cheap Windows notebooks had screens that were far superior to the Air's.

I looked at the new Airs in the store today and just shook my head. It's too bad they keep fumbling the snap on the Air, it really could be a terrific computer if not for that one thing Apple usually glosses over, which in turn has a bad effect.

It kinda irks me that they make something revolutionary and then put on thermal paste like it's joint compound, or throw in some crappy display, or your hand is right on top of the thing CD drive bezel, or the ports are all shoved right next to each other...

I do have to say that the 17" MBPs look really, really tempting. I want a great Air so badly, but I don't think the karma fairies want me to have one. Meanwhile, my iMac is terrific.

I just got rid of a new MB 2.53 because of the screen. The colors were boosted WAY to much for my taste. (Even when calibrated) In addition, the glass kills the viewing angles.

Im not stating that the MBA screen is the best out there, I just prefer it to any of their screens. -Aside from the Hi-Res 17" Matte-

I'm also pretty sure the screen itself is ever so slightly warped/wavy on the bottom right/center...white pages seem to have different intensities in that area compared to the rest of the screen, whereas checking backlight bleed on a black screen shows that it's pretty even, making me think its not backlight bleed, but rather physical deformation in the screen

im actually thinking of selling it off and picking up a refurbed santa rosa classic mbp instead...
