What does this all mean for Intel? I know the Apple business is only a very small percentage and mostly custom orders so maybe not such a big loss, but it does appear that both Apple and AMD are now producing CPUs that outperform Intels latest offerings.

How has Intel let this happen? I know they've struggled to move from 14 to 10nm, but that doesn't even catch up with AMDs ??7nm?? and now Apples ??5nm?? processors. The end of Intel is probably somewhat of an over exaggeration, but it doesn't look like they are going to have an easy ride over the next few years.

AMD dominated Intel in the mid 2000s then Intel went on an unbelievable streak starting with the launch of the Core series of processors

These things come and go.

Not quite, Intel slept on their success of the Core series and stopped being competitive. They assumed AMD would never catch up, and boy did Zen wake them up.

That's what I said - the Core series and successors dominated for a solid decade. It was an unbelievable streak but then they got stuck on 14nm and stopped innovating on their chips and AMD has now exceeded them.

Just FYI, Intel's 10nm process is more dense than AMD's (TSMC) 7nm process.
If you're going to make big claims then make sure you get your facts straight.

I was shocked at the numbers today. The speed and battery improvements by Apple compared to Intel are nuts. If true, Intel is really getting left in the dust.
