Hi there,

I'm wondering if the following scenario involving iTunes match can work at all. I'll try and make the explanation as simple as possible!

My girlfriend is thinking of signing up to ITM on my recommendation. Since buying an iPad last year she uses it pretty much exclusively and actually her old laptop is broken, meaning she can't really get music to sync to it now anyway. Her other problem is space: her iPad is just 16gb in size meaning she can't really store much locally anyway - streaming or downloading on the go as ITM offers make sense.

So far so simple. The thing is she has mp3 files in disparate places, including a laptop she cannot access, so she cannot really get through the Library matching and uploading in the first place.

This is where I come in. I have a huge music library and she wants to be able to listen to some of my stuff too, so the gist of my question is whether the following can happen.

1) She subscribes to ITM
2) I log into her iTunes account with her password and my large library is matched / uploaded into her cloud locker.
3) I sign out.
4) She can now see, stream and dowload all the files I have placed in it.

As an addition. She has some of her own music that I don't have and thus won't by uploading or matching. Could she subsequently add her own files using, for example, her work computer without losing what's already there?

Thanks,

C.

Legal questions aside, yes, this is possible. However, your computer will be associated with your girlfriend's account for 90 days, which means you cannot download past iTunes purchases or use iTunes Match with your own account on this computer.

Yep, exactly this. You'll be locked out of your own iTunes match account for 90 days on your computer but at least your girlfriend can use all that music on her iPad. Hopefully it's true love :D

Thanks both of you. I have subscribed to ITM in the past but let it lapse, so being locked out for 90 days is no problem for me.
