A couple of beginner questions.

I have just gotten a mac mini, after using windows and linux, and am pretty pleased with it so far, but I have a few questions:

1: Is there a utility for OS X similar to Xvidtune for linux, which will allow me to manually set the monitor allignment, as my monitor has a few issues with this, in windows/linux i would use my graphics driver/xvitune respectively, but I can't find an application for os x that does this..

2: Does anyone know where the hash key is on a UK Apple keyboard? I've looked all over it, but can't find it, and the fact that I irc alot means i need it...

3: I read it was possible to set your desktop to whatever DVD you're watching... Does anyone know how?

4: Can anyone recommend any fun widgets? Ones that don't do anything important, but can provide some amusement?

There are some monitor related settings in the "Displays" System Preferences panel, under "Color". I'm not sure what exactly you're looking for, though.

Well, you know you can adjust the allignment of a monitor using the buttons on the front? I want a program that can do that...

I'm a bit confused by this question. Do you mean so that the DVD takes up the whole screen? You don't have to modify your desktop size for that. You can enlarge a DVD to fullscreen by double-clicking on the DVD screen or hitting command+0, or by choosing 'Video' from the DVD menu, and choosing 'Enter Full Screen'.

Firstly congratulations on getting a Macintosh.

1. I have no idea just use the calibration tool in System Preferences.
2. Alt 3 (US keyboard should be the same for UK)
3. Never heard this but would be great.
4. Try the Dope Wars Widget for hours of fun.

Apple has a bunch of Game Widgets at their main site - just go look under the game section - lots of retro stuff...

There are adjustments you can make with the OS to a monitor, only if the monitor (CRT) is built in. Maybe you can get somebody with an eMac or an iMac G3 to get the Sys Preference that allows for this and install it. It is probably somewhere in the Install disk for Retail Tiger.

I'm sure that would be a nice challenge for somebody that has been using Linux.
