a couple of questions before buying an iPhone 6

Hi I am not a complete Apple fans but I am still using iPhone 4S. Now I do really need an upgrade.

I am interested in iPhone 6 (smaller version). I have a couple of questions before buying.

1. What to check about the phone when it is newly purchased at the Apple store? Local Apple sales are not very nice here. I have to know before purchase. Dead pixel ? Anything else?

2. Do I really need a dust cap for the lightning and the audio port of the iPhone? I don't mean I am going to use it in water but sometimes it's hard to avoid traces of dust or moisture during everyday's use. Could those dust cap make the world difference or if iPhone already has some extent of tolerance to dust and moisture from normal practical environment.

3. Do I need those round stuff used to protect the camera? It looks like a lot of people are talking about those little round stuff made of plastic. I don't know its name in English, but it's a kind of protector.

It's pretty much the same as what you would do with your current phone. You'd look it over to see if it looks as you would expect it to look and works fine.

You don't need any covers or untying like that for the lightning port--again similar idea as to what you currently have with your current phone (the port might be somewhat different, but the same things apply to it basically).

You don't really need anything special for the camera. You are certainly welcome to use a case or a bumper or some sort of a screen/back protector, again, as you might with your current phone, but that's basically if you want to do it and/or it might be useful for you in some way.

3. The camera lens is covered with a sapphire crystal - which, as far as I know, is second in toughness only to diamond. I've never used any type of cover for the camera lens or screen and I've had no problems in 3 years and 5 iPhones.

Haven't really seen any particular ones specifically for the camera. General phone cases, bumpers, etc., sure, but not really any ones that are just for the camera basically.

Well, even if you buy a device from Apple, there can be some manufacturer defects nonetheless.

As for camera, there are some people that get some scratches on the ring around the camera or something of that sort, but it's not really widespread or anything, nor does it really affect anything either.

Or perhaps user fear is being exploited I order to make money? Good questions. I see them as no more than a waste of money, but that's just my opinion.

True, but then an exchange or refund would be in order. The buyer does have some protections when purchasing a new device from the manufacturer.

Check for dead pixels and dark spots on the screen (backlight problems) I have had these issues many times with the 6!

Lucky! I can't wait to upgrade to the 6!

Usual stuff to look at really! New out of the box will be fine, check it over see it working. Apple tend to leave you to set it up once you've paid. I expect if you notice something whilst still setting up in store you can raise it with them
