Hi,

Recently I've got a couple of bugs with Safari and wondering if anyone can help me solve them please? Firstly safari no longer allows me to add attachments to emails, or add files (such as photos) to websites and I have to use Chrome to do this now, any idea why?

Secondly just a minor thing, but when I go to close tabs in safari the 'x' doesn't appear a lot of the time. I can still close the tab by clicking where the 'x' should be, but I'd like to fix it if I can.

TIA.

Safari is not an email client, nor is it an FTP client.

Perhaps you haven't explained clearly what the problems are?

Thanks for the reply. Whatever site I use, whether it be gmail, or something like Soundcloud where you can upload artwork for a track I can't do it when using safari as my browser. I click "upload" or "attach files' etc and nothing happens. Up until this week I had no issue, I have not updated Safari or Mac OS.

I have no such issues if I use the chrome browser, but I prefer to use Safari.

I have the same problem in not being able to attach files in using Yahoo mail using Safari 14.0.1. Also unable to attach files in another trusted web site. No problem with Chrome

When I'm composing an email using GMail in Safari and click the paper clip to attach a document, a window pops up that allows me to navigate to the file I want to attach. Do you get that window?

I'm running Safari 14.0.1 (in Catalina) and can attach files to Yahoo mail emails. No issues.

Same issue here in Safari. Very annoying not seeing the X's.

File uploads are also broken in my Safari, and according to an Apple support forum post, 486 other people are having the same problem.

Did nobody bother testing this before they pushed the update?

I've resorted to using Chrome now, Safari's just too annoying at the mo :(

I had a problem recently where something was playing havoc with Safari. I booted in Safe Mode and all was well. So I looked at any plugins I had for Safari and at apps I have started at Startup. By eliminating them all and adding back one by one, I found the problem app.
It was an item that was going through updates for Big Sur and M1. However I’m still running Catalina. I think those updating apps and an updated Safari go out of sync.
I don’t plan to go to Big Sur yet because of all the problems we see, and the problems I had when I went to Catalina on the first release. I only just found a fix for Photos that was introduced in the first release of Catalina.
