Looking to upgrade from my old 6. I am not quite sure what is happening at the moment but it is weird; the X costs more (on pay monthly) than the Xr and the Xs is stupidly expensive. Even more stragely, the Xr seems to be out of stock with the main network providers. The Xr 128Gb is my choice as I think it represents the best value for money.

So I was wondering if it is the right time to upgrade now or whether I should wait until September-October period (when, I assume, the new phones will come out) when the prices will drop?

Also, the third party sellers (AffordableMobiles, Mobiles.co.uk, etc) have much better contract prices than the big companies directly. Anyone know if there are any issues I need to be aware of?

When I went to Vodafone and O2 and told them that 3rd party companies had much better prices than them, they told me that if I bought a Vodafone or O2 contract through a 3rd party and I encountered any issues with the phone, then they would not be responsible for it. They also came up with a few other excuses as well.

Can’t answer for the third party sellers but I would definitely wait as prices would lower once the new phones are released.

The cheapest I have found the 256gb Xr is £764 with Apple's trade in offer. Then I can get a Sim only from BT (£15 per month for 20Gb data). Will prices in October go below that?
