Hey guys,

I am rebuilding a 1st gen iPod (a fun project!), but I have one with a dented back panel. I know I can easily buy a new back panel for around $10, but I want the serial number to match and to retain the original outer panel.

So, any advice on how to get it out? I've already removed the back panel and have it by itself. I heated it with a blow dryer and tried to roll over it, but have only had limited luck.

I also tried the old heat it and use compressed air trick, but the dent is too small.

Any advice/similar experiences would really be appreciated!

A blow dryer wouldn't be hot enough. I would try using a soldering iron to heat the exact spot where the dent it, and pop it back into place.
