I am planning to use an adapter through the Thunderbolt port when I get my refreshed MBA to watch movie rips on an HDTV, but would it be possible to have the computer playing a movie rip on the HDTV while, say, typing an essay on the MBA's screen itself?

I go through other threads and see other posters asking recycled questions, I dont think this has been asked, but if it has, I apologize.

Yes, driving a single external monitor isn't a problem. What I'm curious to see is if you can drive 2 externals + the MBA monitor using thunderbolt. I understand that the externals would have to have 2 thunderbolt ports so that it could be daisy chained and technically I believe it's possible, I'm just wondering if Apple will implement it w/ the ACD (not that I can afford 2 of them now anyways).

Hum, Matrox DualHead2Go. This stuff has been possible for quite some time now, Thunderbolt is not required.

DisplayPort 1.2 (which it seems Apple will never ship) also supports daisy chaining monitors. Again, Thunderbolt not required.

Thank you very much for the info. I forgot about Matrox DH2G, but for about $250, i'd rather spend that on a 2nd monitor :) As far as DP 1.2, I had no idea, and I do hope apple get's there act together and pumps that out, then, as you stated, no thunderbolt daisy chain needed for that.

Edit: Any rumors on Apple adopting it soon?
