Updating to 3.0 GM prevents from downgrading back to 2.2.1 and that is fine but I have a few questions.

1. If this isnt the final, will the supposed "test mode lock" be discovered on Wednesday?

2. My phone wasnt Jailbroken, or Unlocked. It was pure as can be, so did upgrading to the early GM 3.0 thats on torrents prevent me from being able to jailbreak when the DevTeam releases the Official 3.0 Jailbreak?

(BTW, the install of the gold master 3.0 worked smoothly btw, no problems
what so ever)

TWO PART QUESTION:

3. I read a few blogs and forums and there are rumors that the 3Gs and it's video stuff might be ported, is this really possible? I know that cycorder and iphonevideorecorder can get 20fps max, but 30 is a huge improvement! Do you think that video apps will improve for 3G users who have jailbroken phones?

I have googled this stuff plenty, so I dont want to hear that I havent looked elsewhere. It's my first post, so cheers!:)

40 views and no response?

come on!

BUMP!

These are legit questions.

I updated my iPhone 3G last night and Ive had no problems. I'm assuming, just like every other update, this will make it harder to jailbreak. The dev team already said that 3.0 can be jailbroken. So if you want to hack the phone under 3.0 just wait till the new pwn tool comes out if not update already.

You won't be locked into using the 3.0 GM, it IS the final version ... so you won't have anything to upgrade to next week.... You will now have the real 3.0 final (next upgrade 3.0.1 in a few weeks when it comes =p)

Push notification, etc will start working when it is release officially.

You don't need a dev account to install the GM, so there is no way for apple to lock you into this version... you can always dfu upgrade.

Yeah I already updated, I just wasnt sure if i'd need to be on 2.2.1 to jailbreak 3.0.

I know it will be out like Wednesday night or Friday by latest.

I was just worried that I wouldnt be able to go to the real thing with this version. That more then likely isnt the case, since well...they are already shipping iPhones.

I have a question guys, did you alt + click Update or alt + click Restore in iTunes when updating?

I've heard conflicting reports that you should do Update rather than Restore, but I'm not sure why.

I just want to make sure I do the right thing.

Restore, I allllways restore.

The only thing it would effect is unlock, but it's always better to restore.

Now, this might also be a dumb question, but after I am finished restoring/installing 3.0, do I have to manually re-add everything I had on there before (I backed up before I did this restore)?

If you restore from a back up you will have to re add your music and videos.
