A Few Questions About Email

I know one can have multiple email accounts. But I have a few other questions:

1. If your multiple email accounts are loaded in the phone, can you switch off the ones you don't want to download/see? And switch on a few only when you want to get those emails?

2. When you go to send an email or REPLY to one, can you change the 'from' email so the receiver sees the email acct. you only want them to see? Or do you have to send the email from the particular account? When sending, do you have an option to choose the 'from' email account?

Yes, you can. You can simply enable and disable email accounts through email preferences. I have an account that receives lots of spam that is disabled by default, but that I enable if I know something important is coming through.

2. When you go to send an email or REPLY to one, can you change the 'from' email so the receiver sees the email acct. you only want them to see? Or do you have to send the email from the particular account? When sending, do you have an option to choose the 'from' email account?

You definitely have this option, but I believe it is a global option: once you set it, it is set for all emails you send, until you change it. I don't think you do this on a per email basis.

1. Is there a setting to ensure the mail stays on your server so when you check email on the phone, it'll still be there when checking via laptop/computer days later? It doesn't suck the email away from the server - right? There's a setting for that?

2. If you set it for grabbing email every 15 minutes, will it give you messages you already read? How does it know to only give you "unread" email? Say I check email from my main computer, then hours later, check email through the phone..... will those already read emails come up again? Or, if so, does it at least indicate they've been read? I'm confused how this works.

The iPhone's mail client leaves messages on the server by default.

In this respect, the iPhone's email client behaves very much like Mail. It doesn't know which mail on the server have been read and which have not. It download's those messages which you have not previously downloaded to the iPhone. Messages download to the iPhone stay on the iPhone until you delete them.

Not sure if this has been answered.

If I delete the email on my iPhone will it go away on my main mail when I sync? I really do not want to delete it twice.

No this is not the case. It depends on whether you are using POP (and what kind of implementation of POP) or IMAP as your email protocols. You'll need to understand those before you can make a decision about how to use the iPhone's email capabilities.

Do other phones such as Treo, Blackberry behave the same?
