Hey all,

I just wanted to know a few things about The Sims 2 for Mac.

Firstly, I remember reading a while back that there were compatibility issues with Aluminium iMacs. I have a 20" 2.66 C2D / 4 GB RAM / 750 GB HDD / 256 MB ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro Aluminium iMac which I purchased last month. Is it going to be compatible? I seem to remember the issue existing with an older model graphics card, but I'm not sure if it's still present with the newer model, or if the issue was ever resolved.

Secondly, does Time Machine work with The Sims 2, and any other games in general? I know The Sims 2 is notorious for many, many glitches and bugs that can crash/generally mess up your game, so it would be cool if I could use Time Machine to just restore to a few hours before when the game was running fine rather than having to reinstall and lose all my game data.

Finally, where would I obtain patches from? EA or Aspyr?

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Patches can be found at Aspyr.com, and they are under Support for your game. Only install the patch for the newest expansion pack of your game.

Time Machine will work--I had my Sims 2 stop starting, so I had to restore from a few days before.

It will work fine on your computer. I use it on a 20" 2.0ghz with an ATI Radeon 128mb, and it works great.

I reccommend that if you want to use custom content, get Stuffit Expander so you can open .rar files for your game, because the standard Mac configuration will open them as text files.
