1. how do you make all the folders open in list view instead of icon view? (without individually clicking list view for each folder)

2. how do you play .wmv files? i tried the flip4mac thing, and it says it doesnt work for intelmacs (i have a macbook pro).

thanks

Hi aznhoward, I was a switcher too, about 18 months ago and would not like to go back.

In answer to your first question, go to Finder > preferences > general > click on open new windows in column view.

Sorry, I can't help with the second question because I still can't do the things flip4mac is designed to let me do. I'll leave that to someone more knowledgeable!

looks like the first question has been answered, so ill take a stab at the second one

It isn't ideal, but you can download a copy of WMP for mac (linky). It plays most WMV files, but not all. A beta version of F4M UB is in the works, so it shouldn't be long now.
Hope that helps!

You can download the FLIP4MAC v2.0.2. It CAN be installed on an Intel-based Mac. To do this, just go into you Applications folder and then into ur UTILITIES folder. Next find INSTALLER. Type AppleKey+I for Get Info. Click the "Open using Rosetta" box and then drag the .pkg file you'll get from downloading Flip4Mac on to the Installer app. This will install Flip4Mac via rosetta. One it's done, you need to repeat the Steps with Installer but uncheck the "Open Using Rosetta".

Now go and Find QuickTime Player in your Applications folder and type AppleKey + I and click "open using Rosetta". Now QT can play WMV files.

As long as QT is runing in Rosetta, it should work for embedded files via Safari as well.

For WMV you can get VideoLan Player (VLC player), and I know I have seen a Universal version of the Flip4Mac player in beta out there....you have have to use your google-fu to find it. If you just really want to view WMV vids tho, I think VLC is your best choice.

what about embedded content in a website?

VLC can't do that can it?

The best option would be Flip4Mac once the UB version is available. till then you can use Divx Player. It works way better than QT with Flip4Mac under rosetta and VLC as far as WMV is concerned. It doesnt have too many features but it`s the best option available out there until we have UB realease of Flip4Mac. Since the beta is already out there, I guess the final version will also be released in near future.
