Hey guys!

First, I'm from Switzerland, my English is not very good.

Pre-story: I'm owning an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1 + JB. I'm perfectly happy with it, it's exactly what I want, I couldn't imagine to use another phone/iOS-version! But everyday I'm fearing of trashing it or something, so that I will lose my JB and iOS 6.1...

So I just was at a friend's home, and he said that he has an new and unused iPhone 5. He bought it a year ago on release day but never used it, he's still using his iPhone 4S. I couldn't believe this till I saw it with my eyes... I just took it, activated it to see which iOS it has: 6.0, so jailbreakable! AWESOME!

Now I'm thinking about what to do with it...

- Is there a way to update to iOS 6.1/6.1.2 + JB? That would be the best thing, because then i have a "backup"-phone, in case my iPhone doesn't work anymore...
- I could use it with 6.0 + JB, but I think that would be a bit buggy wouldn't it?
- I could sell it on eBay, I think a new unused iPhone 5 that is jailbreakable could sell for some extra money...?

What would you do?

I think iOS 6.0 could have to many bugs, I mean it's the first release of 6.x. I remember having some problems that were solved in iOS 6.1...

There is no way to updating it to iOS 6.1.2 or newer. Cause Apple doesn't sign, you can only update to 7.0.4 atm. So you can only use it at 6.0.

You could always sell it if you're friend doesn't want it anymore. I would imagine you could get a good price for it (especially if 32gb+) being that its new and has the JB'able OS. Then you'd have money set aside to buy a newer phone the next time around.

Worst case is you lose your JB but gain a brand new phone.

@ fenderbass146, @ darricksailo: exactly!

@ oplix, @ aPple nErd: ok, thank you for the feedback! then i'll just try it out. now i just have to decide which one will be my backup phone, the new one or the old one :p

@ drummingcraig: the problem is, there's no other phone out i like... maybe that will change with iphone 5s + jb or iphone 6 / ios 8, but that's still a year to go...

also one of the biggest problems with the new iphones/ios is (besides i don't like the look of ios 7), i can't revert the ipcc (carrier configuration) without jailbreak. i need to do that, to disable 4G/LTE, so i get back the 3G-switch to disable 3G. because 3G coverage in my house is a real mess and it drains my battery fast.

btw, anyone has experience with semi-restore.com?
