A good article on Battery Maintenance

I get a lot of people that ask me about how to care for their smartphone battery. There seems to be some confusion for a lot of people. Here's a good article on how to care for your battery.
This also happens to be a very good site for smartphone reviews. I'm not talking joke reviews like Engadget, The Verge, etc... I'm talking very real, in depth reviews. Just watch any of the reviews and you'll see what I mean by in-depth. Way more time is put into giving the reader a better idea of the device. Probably one of the very few sites that comes across as objective and not biased towards any one manufacturer.

That's just making sure battery lives longer i.e. two years instead of 18 months for example.

I thought it was one of those articles which shows what to turn off when to get good battery usage.

I doubt the Verge does a lot of joke reviews. Their video reviews are awesome.

And let's face it, personal review is ALWAYS going to differ from websites. Your smartphone is not going to be brand new forever or be used the same way as the verge guy does.

I know exactly what you mean. I've come across this site when it was called heels and tech. The reviews are as in-depth as you will find on the web. She actually gives you an example of sound quality rather than say, it's sounds good or bad. She actually shows you comparisons of screens amongst different phones, rather than say "colors look better on phone X"

The OP was talking about Engadget, The Verge reviews being a Joke in comparison. And I can say I honestly agree. The reviews on Engadget and The Verge always come across as if some teenage kid wrote them in comparison.

Then why not go to anandtech? I believe their hardware and software reviews are even more in depth and usually very accurate when compared to real life uses.

Yes Anandtech is another good site I often use. The two sites compliment each other well.

That article has some BS in it. Li-ion/li-po chargers don't trickle charge. The device may decrease charge rate but when its full it will cycle on and off.

The reason a li-ion/li-po battery should be stored at half is it minimizes its degrade curve. Should be stored at 2.5v which is normally around 40%. Once it gets below 2volt it will never be as good as it once was. That's why when you put a device on a shelf for a long time then power it up the battery sucks....I notice this with old cell phones....

Want a battery to last a long time. Charge it when it gets to 50% with an OEM amp rated charger and take it off when its at 100%. Only let it discharge rarely to calibrate the battery meter...
