I am making a keynote to accompany a mass, where a good friend of mine will be ordained priest. I really need it to be stylish and modern, but most of all, it has to be readable. This is what I currently have, with Gill Sans for the text. I won't ask if it will be readible like this, because it will depend on the church, but I want to know if Gill Sans is a good choice for this kind of thing. What fonts would you guys recommend? Also, any thoughts on the rest of the slide? I went for black on white, but with a coloured accent (the colour of his invitation and other stuff during the festivities) at the bottom.

Very nice, I also think Candara or Century Gothic would look really good too, or a combination of the two (one for the title, the other for the rest of the text)...

Century Gothic was what I was going to say.

Also, to the original poster, do you mean modern as in before post modernism, or do you mean modern in the sense of now and current?

You could make the heading a little more interesting. Maybe try it in the accent colour and to the left of the body text. So you have the main text block filling more the right side of the screen. Then you can bring in the colour from the left bottom a bit more.. i would mock it up but i've got about a minute of battery left....

modern as in now and current. I tried Century Gothic and Candara, and it looks good. I'm meeting him sunday, so I'll ask him what he likes best.

Macnoviz, I think those look good - and that you had exactly the right idea. Go with something simple & modern in the design and let the words speak for themselves.
