I just received my new C2D macbook pro 15" 2.33 GHZ, 160 GB HD, 2 GB RAM, which is an upgrade from my previous CD MBP 15" 2.16 GHZ, 120 GB HD, 1 GB RAM.

There are a few problems with it.

I have the two running side by side for a direct comparison (I copied all files and applications over, so they both have exactly the same data). Now, supposedly, this thing runs cooler than the previous model. After a brief run of the Quake 4 demo under equal conditions (with the same apps open) my C2D shot up above 50 C, while my CD stayed under a cool 40 C. Now that everything has toned down, my C2D is still running at 40 degrees, while my CD is at 34. They're both running the hardware monitor app.

The fan gets very loud. I hardly hear the fan at all on my CD, but this thing really kicks in when doing something hardware intensive. Also, there's a dull, low pitched, permanent fan like noise coming from somewhere... I'm not sure if its the same mooing noise some people noticed on the CD model, but it's kind of annoying.

The lid, when closed, doesnt touch down all the way to the computer base, so it can be pushed in a little (not major, but my CD stayed clamped all the way down).

These are all minor quips, and I hope I haven't made anyone feel any worse about their C2D purchase. It's still a great machine.

I guess I could always just go back to using my old CD model, if anything worse happens... I think returning the system is out of the question though, as I had it custom built. Oh well.

And it's faster than my old one, and its new bla bla bla

Bitch bitch bitch. Common man. Im sure it would run hotter than your old one. It has more stuff under the hood. You think you can compare a honda VTEC to a 502 in their operating temp? The thermal grease probably hasnt set yet. Give it a day or two of use.

Could the reason your display doesn't close all the way be because of rubber feet? Or maybe they changed the way it closes? You have a brand new macbook pro that i will kill to have, and your complaining about how its not as good as your OTHER macbook pro....that i would also kill to have.

Shut up and use it.

I know I shouldn't complain, I love my macbook pro, and I'm sorry for posting another of these threads on the forums. I'm giving my CD to someone else, but I'm just still kind of attached to it, even though I've only had it for two weeks :p I didn't think Apple would be updating their line that quickly, so I got kind of angry when they did (I shouldn't have been angry, I know)

Anyway, thanks for your advice to call applecare and quit bitching, I just wanted to know whether these issues were common or major enough that I should try to replace it... probably not.

As the owner of the MacBook it is your call to call applecare.

Its free to call (not that it would matter to you ;))
Let them know and they will tell you.

The customer is always right.
Even if he does bitch about stupid stuff.

Exactly. I would KILL for a G4 Mac Mini! If I got a Macbook Pro two weeks ago, and they updated the line, I would just use the one I had. I mean, really. How much of a change is that?

Could you elaborate?

I will say that i might have over-reacted to this, but it seems that most people get on here and start crying about how their ipod doesn't work after they have thrown it down a flight of stairs because it said the battery was low, or that they had to wait a extra day for their computer to arrive and how its apple's fault.

I think there should be a dedicated forum here for all complaints about anything and everything.

Agreed, we'll call it "Bitchfest"

But..."might" have overreacted. Damn dude, get a grip. Does the thing work? Does it turn on? Does it do what you need it to do? If you answered yes to these questions...then shut up and use the damn thing, or call AppleCare and get it fixes...don't start ANOTHER "I don't like my perfectly good MacBook Pro because it has a 1nm gap in the lid" thread
