I have an iphone 4 and up to this point when I play games like Words With Friends, it's been with other iphone users. I'm buying a older family member who enjoys word games an ipad with just wifi. I'm assuming that since it is not 3G enabled, games like that will not be able to find each other unless they are on the same LAN, correct?? Are there word type games that a "3G" person and a "wifi" person can play from a distance?

And if so, any suggestions??

Words With Friends does not require you to be on the same LAN as it connects to a central server. Example: One user can be on an iPad via WiFi and the other can be on an iPhone via 3G or a different WiFi and they can still play each other.

As grapes911 said, there are no issues.

As for WWF, it is so much more fun playing on an iPad than an iPhone.
