Try Paris
There is a sort of poor-relation of the Apple Store concept already in Paris.
It's in a huge, odd computer store called Surcouf on the Avenue Daumesnil -- I'm sure others here have seen it. Surcouf is laid out and functions like a 'covered market' -- in the traditional sense -- crossbred with a computer expo. The idea is that vendors rent a bit of floor space and (literally) set up a stall from which to hock their stuff.
A huge Microsoft stall is the first thing you see when come in the front door, of course. But if that does't turn your stomach, go downstairs and all the way to the far end. Here there is a very pleasing sight. Apple has bought up a whole mess of plots and -- the only ones in the whole place -- put a in glass shopfront: it's not a stall, its a whole storefull of Apple only stuff! Plus, the staff lets you play with anything for as long as you want and are very friendly. Who set this up? Is this Apple's first toehold in Europe?
