I just set up a new 1.8 G5 powermac tower. When I say new I mean the box wasn't opened until way after it was got.

The first thing that I did was go to software update and get all of the ones that go for this system. I ended up on 10.3.9

Now Safari works, but the person who is going to use this computer wants to use internet explorer 5.2.3. Which for some reason doesn't work. It just gives the pinwheel and doesn't allow me to access any of the menus of the program.

I was wondering if this was a problem with 10.3.9 and explorer together or what. If that is the case how do I revert back before the update?

Any suggestions would be helpful

Have you tried reinstalling IE? Link. It's always possible that the copy that was already on there wasn't quite right to begin with.

That's the first thing I tried... but because you suggested it I made sure to do it again. This time it worked. I downloaded from the same place as the link, but I guess computers will be computers.

Thanks...

That seems to be common complaint with the MS freebies, both IE and WMP. Installations don't seem to work correctly every time, and there doesn't seem to be a logical pattern to it. Weird.

it seems that microsoft recently made some changes on msn.com which crash IE for Mac.......seems to effect IE whether its running under jaguar, panther or tiger

microsoft has set up IE so that msn.com is the default homepage which is a bit awkward......the fix is to change your homepage to something other than msn.com

the problem is discussed in this thread;

You should really point out to the guy that Microsoft have EOL'd Internet Explorer for Mac a while back. There's loads of better, modern options available now!

Not always. I have to create ASP.Net websites. Have you every seen one of them in any browser other than IE. They don't work very well and are ugly as crap. No better, modern option available.
