Many of us have found the two finger tap "secondary click" delay to be annoying when you have the "smart zoom" feature enabled.

Obviously disabling the smart zoom feature will get rid of the two finger click delay. But how would you use the smart zoom feature when it's disabled?

It's easy. Here's something Apple never told you:

While the "Smart Zoom" feature is disabled, you can still use it by double tapping one finger and thumb on the trackpad! Without the annoying delay to the right click (two finger tap). :)

Enjoy.

Or just double tapping with two fingers on the trackpad.

Yeah but the point I was trying to make here is that you can turn off the "smart zoom" feature in the system preferences and still use the smart zoom.

Now, why would you want to turn off the smart zoom feature in system preferences? To have a more responsive two finger tap (right click).

I must have nimble fingers.

2 finger "right-click" and "tap to zoom" have never conflicted for me. They have both worked properly since Lion.

This is a good tip I just tried it now and it works like a charm, thanks! :D i always noticed a delay when secondary clicking before.

Now if someone could find a way to "tap" and drag a window like in Lion/Snow Leopard, instead of having to "click" and drag in ML, that would be great.

You're absolutely right but you'll notice that when you do a two finger tap to perform a right click operation, there is a slight delay. You can notice the improvement when you turn off the smart zoom feature. With this turned off, the speed of two finger tap will be the same as two finger click. Now, if you are a person who always clicks on the trackpad and rarely taps, then you won't notice any improvement, because turning off smart zoom only speeds up the two finger "tap" operation, not the two finger click. I hope I didn't confuse you but it's pretty simple. :)

Thanks, I know what you mean. The closest thing you can do is enable "three finger drag" in system preferences. Which, in my opinion is more efficient than tap and drag, especially when you get used to it. All you do is take the cursor on the gray area of the window and move three fingers on the trackpad (saves more time than tapping and locking).

:apple: has really thought out some of these gestures. :D

I just ended up changing the "right-click" to the bottom right corner of the touchpad. I never got the hang of the 2-figure click.
