Currently, I'm testing this iMac 27". But, I feel like I'm traveling a lot with the mouse.
Maybe there is a setting or something that I need to change?

I did change the speed in the settings. But...

I can't stand the mouse. I've since connected my Logitech Wave keyboard and mouse, and it works.
Thank goodness for that.

I must say, this iMac seems slower than my MacBook Pro! It must be the hard drive causing that, surely.
My MacBook has a 128GB SSD, where as the iMac is a 1TB SATA; not even Fusion. But, the processor is a 3.2 GHz, i5. So, I don't get it...

It's all about SSD any computer with a normal HDD will feel slow after using one with an SSD, it's why the advice on these forums is always to order the iMac with at least a 2tb fusion drive to give you a decent amount of SSD (128gb on the 2tb over 24gb on the 1tb fusion).

Yes it really does make hat much difference hard drives are now unacceptable for running your OS and apps in my opinion even if all your data is on normal HDD's.

The processor won't make much difference until you get to CPU intensive tasks using apps that can leverage the quad core desktop processor there you will find it much quicker, rendering videos etc.

Yep, that's probably the cause. I noticed the same thing on some store demo units.

Get a thunderbolt external drive with an SSD, and run off that instead of the internal hard drive, that should help increase the performance.

...thanks for everyone's input. Even working in IT, for as long as I have, I seriously took it for granted that even with the SATA drive, the extra processing power, etc. would alleviate this. Clearly I was wrong.
