MacBook Air and Mac Pro leak wouldn't hurt ... as was posted in another thread the journalists out there are already jumping on the band wagon saying Apple is abandoning the Mac's ...

Apple makes Billions of dollars selling Mac's ... it's sensible to keep mac's AND the ipad/iphone going until the iPad or whatever becomes some super duper device than can replace everything.

Surely Apple is capable of 'keeping all the plates spinning' ...

A very sensible reasoning. If you read through the forum some MBA users seem to have moved on to something non-Apple, notably the Vaio Z. And many more are considering to do something similar in the not so far future...

Can't blame them, can you?

I'm quite sure the probably still faithful majority will move on come the end of June, given there's still no update.

That's right. I almost hit the "confirm order" button on the Sony page 2 months ago. The day I will finally do so is moving closer...

Hardware isn't as bad off as it seems, other than the marketing.

The mobile stuff gets the attention. Big iPad announcement, bis iPhone keynote, software on the plate all over the place.

Hardware has gotten a bunch of 'soft' updates. We would all feel better if they did a keynote style update on all the Mac lines, including pro and the air. Much more attention then just a bump on the web site.

What about the rumored rented out Moscone center on June 27th...?

I'm typing on my new Z that I just got yesterday. I would gladly have purchased a new Air, but alas Apple did not announce anything so I had no choice I need a new computer and it needed to be ultra-portable. So far I am not disappointed. Would I rather be typing on a new Air? Yes. The Z is pretty awesome though, I need more time under my belt with it. This is my first time with Win7.

Good point. Although I do not believe the rental is a rumor. They have that date. The issue is what is it for? May have just been a fall back for WWDC, may be new hardware, may be someone's graduation party!

Was it late Dec. '09 or January that a leak on MR showed Best Buy's list of new numbers for Apple products? It was a long-ish list. My question: As of today, have all of those model #s and SKU #s been accounted for by new items BB is selling? Or might there be a couple of unaccounted-for numbers, that are for upgraded Air models?

Would it be correct to say that in recent years, all upgrades of Apple stuff -- at least the items that Best Buy sells -- have ALWAYS been signalled at least a week or 2 in advance by leaks of Best Buy SKU number lists?

I'm thinking that... if there are no leaks of any kind saying that a revised Air is coming soon... then maybe the debut is NOT a week or 2 or 3 from now?

Hmmm, same day, the 27th...

Apple announced the Iphone OS 4.0 preview dates just after the ipad was released for a just a couple days off. Maybe we'll see the press, on Friday, just after the iphone is released, getting invited to something on the 27th from Apple at the Moscone Center as well.
