A MacBook clone done right, this is what Apple should have released

Now it looks like a MacBook except for a few things. No iSight, and it isn't the EXACT case, but it sure is close:

The Korean company Haseenote will sell in Seoul for 830.00 euro, a 12” notebook with a resolution of 1280x800, a Core Duo T2050 (1.66Ghz), 1GB of RAM, 80GB of SATA, DVD Multi burner, ATI Radeon Xpress 200M (64MB of VRAM) and this in a body of only 1.2kg. The lack of a powerful video card could be somehow a bit troublesome for some user, but quite enough for most of us which needs a good and small computer on the go.

Now with the power of google:

830 Euro = 1,065.14 U.S. dollars

1.2 kilograms = 2.65 pounds

So you guys tell me, why couldn't have Apple made something with similar specifications and called it a MacBook?!

Perfect form factor, and weight. Apple could've made their own nice case and lowered the specs if they wanted to.

Ok, its graphics are slightly better (still wouldn't trust it for heavy gaming) but that's about it.

That might be true, but it sure will have more consistent quality.

That's a nice notebook computer. I'd say it's as good as or better than the MacBook on some points, especially weight, and it's not as good on other points like camera and remote. The size 12" vs 13.3" is more of a preference, and the price is hard to compare until this is sold worldwide.

I'm talking about the shape guys, you could slap a 2.16 GHz Merom in there if you wanted to.

Slot loading again is easy to add.

Remote is easy to add.

iSight again is dead simple.

Few can argue about the weight, but many people think 12" is too small, in particular with a resolution that's quite high. Sure it'd be nice if Apple chose to continue with both a 12" and a 14" model, but since they decided to do only one size (so far), 13.3" is a good compromise, I think.

For the record this is an opinion. I think you'd be crazy to buy a 12" instead of a 13" laptop. Is it so difficult to carry that little bit more?

Screw form factor an weight. I'm more interesting in my comfort, the abilities of the system, and reliability. I saw this today on engadget and I almost threw up. It is a horrible looking machine, with angles, and bad battery life.

Surprising how little the difference needs to be between 'nice design' and 'merely utilitarian' as that machine is.

Personally, I've made the decision to ditch my Macbooks for Sony SZ2XP's - or rather, one SZ2XP. Better reliability = no need to keep spares. More expensive unit-wise, but I think of it like a mini-MBP that Apple should have built.

I think its down right rubbish. the slotloading cdrom, the vga connection, spff. if apple shipped this I'd never buy one.
