was NYC...now MIAMI
my mac book pro (core duo, 2 GHz, running 4.9, 1GB ram, 42.31 GB available) is not performing to what i believe it should... this comparing it to my girlfriends mac book of all things (core 2 duo , 2 GHz, running 4.9 , 1GB ram, 52.38 GB available)

i have bought tech tool pro 4, ran all the tests and finally defraged. the hard drive as it certainly needed it. As i notice some improvments, it's still not performing as well as my girlfriends mac book. What could be the problem??

Thanks

It's probably just the difference between CD and C2D.

As far as I am aware Mac OS System 4 was never designed to run on Intel chips. I would therefore recommend reinstalling Tiger OS X and you will see vast improvements.:D

System 4? Eh? Am I missing something?

the macbook, though entry-level, is a very fast computer. if you're not doing anything that requires the use of a video card, your girlfriend's macbook should be faster than your core duo macbook pro. if you want speedier performance, i suggest you get more ram.
