When iPhone 3G was announced to include GPS, first idea that popped in my head: a native App that would report and share speed traps! Screw all that social networking crap, can we utilize one to record speed traps?!

Similar to www.trapster.com

Experience based on 1 month usage, ~3 months ago:
Have you used trapster.com? In my area (Dallas/Ft Worth, Texas) it has almost nothing. It had a few, but they were bogus, or the Police had moved on to another area. For such a large area, I would think it would have more.

BTW, I travel all over the metroplex, not just to and from one location. I am a roaming IT admin.
I had this setup on my BB8800.

No I haven't, and I only found them while I was making this post.

Idea is that you can report current location using iPhone along with timestamp by turning on the program and pushing a single button. There are always room for improvement, and the idea may work if there are enough people with iPhone and this particular program.

It's a good idea...the reporting app could be free, the viewing app could cost...

I understand the idea (and I really like it), the problem is, you have to have people submit the data for others to see. I think that is where trapster fails. It does not have enough people that care. Its also usable on any phone (their words not mine). Maybe contact trapster, and see if they will make one for the iphone.
