This update installs new firmware on PowerBook and Xserve combo drives. The update prevents combo drives from intermittently failing to eject discs. It's recommended that you install this update to ensure that your combo drive avoids this problem.

Your drive may or may not need to have firmware updated; installing and running this update will tell you if updating is required.
Is this one for SuperDrive to?

You find it on software update.

Already sent this in, but has anyone else noticed it's a completely metal interface?

Completely.

 Panther rumors!

AppleMatt

edit: More importantly, this is the first firmware updater to run natively in X I believe.

matsu$hita isn't such a dirty word. sony would be a more likely candidate for censorship personally :D

I've lost the read-me screen shot, but that was metal aswell. If you look closely you can see the dialogue boxes are actuallly sheets (same with read-me).

ugh! the slide down menu looks ugly, like it's popping out of nowhere.

in aqua it seems to come from under the bar. that one is just "there." i hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Hmm... weird, I have a 1Ghz TiBook with a combo drive, but I didn't get the update to show up in software updater. Anyone else have this issue?

It is only for CW-8122 drives, as far as I know, the 1GHz has a CW-8121

edit: can someone confirm this?

AppleMatt

OK, thanks. My 1giger has the cw 8121 in it, so I guess I don't need to worry.
