First Name? During the summer I worked with an American dude who had trouble pronouncing my real name in a way that didn't sound crass (his words, not mine), so in the spirit of some semblance of anonymity let's say "Steve", as he liked to call me.

How many hours a day do you spend on the computer? 4-6. Depends heavily on the day, though. Sometimes zero, sometimes much, much more.

There are reasons most of us use forum handles; personally, I consider it intrusive for someone to ask me my name - even my first name - on an anonymous online forum.

That's a decent approach - make up something funny or odd that still in some way answers the question, so might still be easily remembered.

The best approach - nobody should ask these questions. If a user loses their password, you have to go to old-fashioned techniques. Send us a copy of your driver's license. Write a letter and have it notarized. Send us a selfie. Etc. It's harder work for the company of course. Which is why they use these stupid security questions, which are the most egregious security problem on sites that use them.

As stupid as this are the ones that show some picture and/or phrase, and you have to say yes/no this is right. It's silly. It assumes that most people if they see the wrong image or phrase, they will politely not continue with login, and say "oh, gracious, that's not my account, I'm getting out here!"

I've found that most of the time people still get the answers wrong. When they answered correctly. They'll forget something like they put ave instead of avenue in a street name, favorite movie changes, &c. Easy to remember may work in theory but often fails in practice. Record everything. A password manager is easier since it syncs and can autofill. An encrypted spreadsheet is a decent alternative.

While I don't believe the OP meant any harm, you bring up a excellent point. Many of these very questions are the ones often found in account security and recovery. And far too often, people answer them honestly, which makes it a lot easier for the "Death Star" to find and attack.
