I never have been able to understand why the MP6,1 has the old 1 GbE instead of 10 GbE - so certainly I'd expect the next version to have 2013 era 10 GbE!
While it is "cool" as a concept, but it is not hard to imagine how "uncool" it literally is. Full width full length GTX cards get extremely hot, and their own on board fans need air room which this thin case does not provide. The Mini ATX tower case designs out there struggle with this issue as well.
I think as far as PC opponents go we are a point that physical air room is necessary, and a form factor similar to full ATX / cheese grater cMP tower is needed, just to be sure no throttling is happening to the CPU and GPU.
That said, 4 x SATA, 2 x M.2, 4-8 x DIMMs can easily be done in such a case design if Apple decided to do so. For productions not requiring intense graphics performance such a machine can be a beast.

Well I like the concept overall, but yes there are a few problems.
The first one I noticed was a simple labeling error - he says 4x HDMI when there are only two depicted. It's also unclear how video is getting out of the video cards and redirected to the Thunderbolt ports, which is something that people have debated a few times here on MR.

I'm not directing this at you, jardinager, but we've all gotten so used to looking at these 12c cheese graters that we can add dual Xeon 6-core CPUs to for $500 and dual PC graphics cards to for $500 (not the 1080 obviously) that I'm afraid that when Apple releases the new Mac Pro (and let's pretend its a good one) we might have forgotten that it will cost you $11.500 when you've specced it with a 10 core CPU and dual gfx.
Just for fun, go to Apple and configure the 3 year old Mac Pro the way you'd like it and check the price.
i really like the design and concept. logical issues aside, it very much screams apple design and if it was possible, i definitely wouldn't mind having this on my desk. dual socket return would be nice, if not for all the I/O the artist is proposing. it would even be nice if you could configure 1 GPU and leave the other open for specialty cards and/or future proofing newer stuff. overall, a very well done and executed concept.
Like the design. Way overpowered for what I want, but if they released something like it, I would buy one instantly.
My demands are simple:
• 1xPCIe.
• 1xSpace/connector for full graphic card.
• 4 RAM ports.
• Single CPU.

Not sure how is powering the GPU Cards either, as looks like has fixed connection points for the additional power that they need. So unless all other future GPU's have there Power Connectors in exactly the same place then going to be a tad awkward to swap out for other cards. Standard PC Components certainly won't be giving you that so won't be using those ( presuming driver support and an EFI flash is available or are we presuming Apple goes for standard UEFI rather then it's own )
Also GPU Cards are mounted wrong way round.
I would say that looking at that the styling then would be pulling Air UP to the top of the System and out the top.
With the GPU mounting then would be taking the Air and blowing down. As the GPU Connectors are there as well then won't be expelling externally so would be pushing hot air out the bottom into the Case that then gets pulled up over the sides of the GPU Card and then some gets pulled in by the Cooling System to go through the Card again.
Needs some more thought beyond how it looks into some actual practical design work.

I think it needs to be even bigger to work right. There's really no reason to try to keep it tiny.
It should have space to put any two x16 PCIe cards in, and be able to route cables from the ends, such that RAID cards in particular can be used. I'd personally be using one strong GPU and one full size Areca RAID card.
Also, 24GB RAM seems low. I have 32GB in my 4,1, which I've been thinking up increasing to 48GB. Why only 24GB?

I dislike when Apple says "up to" X, Y and Z, since that always changes over time. Guess they didn't feel like saying, "At the time of this writing..." Heh.

I would change one thing though if i could dream and if i would care about putting regular GPU:s in the nMP: Offset the plate between the 2 thermal cores to create decent space in the middle for normal PCI slots with the air inlet and outlet for the GPU:s in the correct orientation, sure, the external cables for the cards would come out of the top but easy to fix with a cable channel internally and come out of the back. Could probably fit 4-5 pci slots, one config could be 2 full height cards and the rest be 1 slot heigh
OR, just have a thermal core at the front, then have the PCI card chamber behind it so you could position up to 4-5 pci slots just like in conventional computers but then whats the point, at that stage they could just have reverted back to the tower
