At which year do you think a notch-less, no punch-hole iPhone will come?

I am sticking to my iPhone 8Plus until a notch-less, punch-hole-less iPhone will come, I hate notches and punch holes in the screen.

If you want notchless AND punch-less hole, that may be a while...2025 at the very earliest is my guess.

I'll settle for notchless, so maybe 2024?! Guess we will see.

TouchID should never have been dropped - I've said this from the very beginning. And since Covid happened, people still needing masks (or choosing still to wear them) are left without a reliable way to unlock their phones with FaceID being a problem for many.

I really value TouchID and am glad I have it on my 6s.

Pin code is not a reliable way?

Pin code entry always works, but if you have an alphanumeric with extended ASCII code PIN as I do, then having to key that in every time you need to unlock...of course then, TouchID excels.

Why I love it so. :)

Even more since I run lower-power mode 100% of the time...a debut with ios9 when the 6s was released.

Based on the rumours/leaks so far, we're obviously expecting a redesign next year, but looks like that will at the very least have a pinhole, if not another smaller notch. It won't likely be notch or pinhole free.

2023 will be an 'S' year, so same design with spec upgrades and minor changes.

2024 according to rumours could see a flip/foldable iphone which could be the next major redesign after next year's model. As they're pretty niche I expect they'll release a foldable phone alongside a normal 'candybar' shaped one. Both could be notch/pinhole free.

So I would say 2024 at the earliest is when we'll see a full screen/no notch/no pinhole iPhone - either as a foldable/flip phone or candybar style or both.

I really think 2023, maybe even 2024. Hope I'm wrong...but for some reason I can't see them totally removing this next year, even the year before that.

I can see a more narrow notch again, smaller than 13, perhaps less "taller"

2024...40th anniversary of "reinventing" the Macintosh (That infamous 1984 commercial) - maybe that's when they will "reinvent" the iPhone. Full complete blown redesign? Who knows.

I say five years before we’re completely notch/hole-punch free and full under-display sensors for Apple products. So I voted 2026.

Follow the money as they say… I’m guessing notchless could already be a thing and will be when needed to keep the inventory selling. Apple is not going to put everything they can into the latest release. Gotta have something new each version. Marketing 101 right?

It seems reasonable that Apple could stay with the 2021 notch size and shrink on 2023 by combining two Face ID components possibly LIDAR and dot projector or add AF to the FFC. Shrink the notch again in 2024. Finally notcless in 2025.

Whatever seems like a reasonable timeframe, then add like three years to that.

Android phones are only just getting under-display cameras now, so I’d say two more years for them to get good, and then and then another three for Apple to slightly improve it and get FaceID to work well enough. So 2026 is my guess.
