I'm an Apple consumer. Definitely. Their products have style and are extremely useful in the creative media industry. I admire the iPad because it will be an option for many producers and artists in the multimedia field who aren't interested in spending a lot on portable technology with as much "weight" as a laptop. It's a good area for Apple to invest in, and they're smart for waiting this long to approach it.

But after I watch this video, I can't help but become irritated with their own propaganda. The first sentence out of the first guy's mouth clearly underestimates the consumer. By stating it "exceeds the ability to understand it," thereby making it "magical" Apple acts as if their new piece of hardware is something completely new and crazy. No, it's a 10-inch iPhone without the phone. Not much is different from there.

"The iPad is the best web surfing experience, the best emailing experience..."

Really? You're really telling me theres an experience to something as lifeless as looking at a small screen, and now you're saying it's "the best"? And it keeps going:

"...the best photo and movie-watching experience."

I believe when I can properly leave my hands at my side or filled with food sitting in front of a gigantic screen, that is a movie-watching experience worth the title "best".

One would say I shouldn't be irritated with Apple since those are just two people talking about it. But a company's own advertising and propaganda had to be approved by someone high up, and whatever information you choose to display is therefore your opinion to the public eye. This is a fairly pointless rant, but I just feel that this ridiculous hype over something as unsurprising and expected as the iPad is a waste of energy and money.

Thoughts?

Okay, well they can't say "Hey everyone, it's a piece of ****, please buy it"
So what's your point?
Since when do companies make videos about how bad their product is? their job is to convince you to get one.

I actually like the Apple videos. Yeah, so of them aren't true, but it is original, I mean the way they make it. Not very many companies get away with just sitting in front of a white screen and talking about a device, without even holding it.

Anyway, next time, I'm sure they'll consult with you, before making a video. Because you're obviously a marketing genius.

I honestly feel it could be the best web surfing experience (albeit, flashless). A touch screen, to me, is the perfect way to navigate the web. Like how the web was always meant to be navigated.

Best e-mail? Maybe to read them but I'd rather write them with a physical keyboard.

Best photo? YES. This is 100% the best way to share your photos.

Best movie? The screen is great but aspect ratio kills it. Still, there is no other mobile device under $1000 with a large IPS screen.

With mobile safari just quitting on it's own or locking up like it does on the iPhone, I doubt it will be the best browsing experience.

I gotta hold down the power button and then the home button everyday to force quit Safari.

At first, with the iPod Touch, I hated the keyboard. I'm 6'2.5, so I'm a big guy with big hands, and I found typing in Portrait mode to be unbearable. Then typing in landscape was better, and I got good at it. I now prefer typing on it more so than my HTC 6800...

I'm thinking I might like the bigger screen keyboard, because I recall adjusting myself for the iPod Touch landscape, and then finally enjoying it. Typing either on Portrait or Landscape on the Apple iPad will be much easier, for me that is.. :)

Just my opinion.

I also agree, Photo viewing is going to be STELLAR!

As for the Aspect Ratio, that is something a bit strange, now isn't it... But I'd easily get over that fact... :)

The best web experience - I believe it has the potential to be. If 'flash' were an option, then it's a done deal, but since Flash is a big part of Media rich websites... the iPad is lacking. With the future release of HTML5 (and YouTube is beta testing this now) It may be the solution Apple has been looking for. Who knows. :)

So you're dismissing something that hasn't been released because of bugs it MIGHT have?

For web browsing, multi-touch blows mouse/trackpad away.

For the record, Safari on iPhone has never crashed on me. Safari on OS X, a different story.

The few times Safari has crashed in OS X were... wait for it... because of flash.

Mobile Safari crashed on me all the time with my 2G, 3G, and 3G-S.

Mostly when viewing blog sites like engadget.

I have yet to crash Safari on my Mac Pro, but it's a octo-core with over 10gigs of RAM.

HAHAHA !!

ACTAULLY........... come to think of it - my Safari did crash once, because it was the first time I ever had to use FORCE Quit ... and I do believe it was from veoh.com.. not saying it was THEIR Fault as a website, but it was due to Flash.. Im pretty sure.

Hahahaha!

Such a nice laff.

Install Click2flash, Flash and Safari are not good friends.
