I'm an Apple consumer. Definitely. Their products have style and are extremely useful in the creative media industry. I admire the iPad because it will be an option for many producers and artists in the multimedia field who aren't interested in spending a lot on portable technology with as much "weight" as a laptop. It's a good area for Apple to invest in, and they're smart for waiting this long to approach it.
But after I watch this video, I can't help but become irritated with their own propaganda. The first sentence out of the first guy's mouth clearly underestimates the consumer. By stating it "exceeds the ability to understand it," thereby making it "magical" Apple acts as if their new piece of hardware is something completely new and crazy. No, it's a 10-inch iPhone without the phone. Not much is different from there.
"The iPad is the best web surfing experience, the best emailing experience..."
Really? You're really telling me theres an experience to something as lifeless as looking at a small screen, and now you're saying it's "the best"? And it keeps going:
"...the best photo and movie-watching experience."
I believe when I can properly leave my hands at my side or filled with food sitting in front of a gigantic screen, that is a movie-watching experience worth the title "best".
One would say I shouldn't be irritated with Apple since those are just two people talking about it. But a company's own advertising and propaganda had to be approved by someone high up, and whatever information you choose to display is therefore your opinion to the public eye. This is a fairly pointless rant, but I just feel that this ridiculous hype over something as unsurprising and expected as the iPad is a waste of energy and money.
Thoughts?
